Another extremely-late-to-be-blogged session, but a great one none the less. Sweet Morgan was adorable, and although she was a month old, she slept like a newborn! Her parent’s first treasure. We incorporated some of their own outfits for her that they had and loved, which is something I enjoy in lifestyle sessions - the unique touch that comes with using your own items!
Alright. The busy season is officially OVER and I know longer have an excuse to procrastinate!!! I promise promise PROMISE I’m going to try harder to stay on top of blogging this year. It is my one and only goal. I joked about the realest Christmas miracle being that anyone chooses to hire me with my lack of updates anywhere! But like, seriously! I’ve had this session ready to blog for at least 4 months, and that’s kind of embarrassing…does anyone else struggle to find balance among juggling family, friends, life activities, and work? Just me? Anyway, I truly appreciate all of my clients from the bottom of my heart, especially for seeing my website and trusting me on that alone to capture your precious memories. It means everything to me. I love being able to do this for all of you <3
Anyway, this family was yet another amazing family. The dad was so friendly and they were all so hospitable. I loved every moment with them. Their new son was precious of course as well, and a perfect little sleeper to boot! A seriously beautiful family. I hope you’re doing well these days, baby Teddy! Check out his newborn session below:
It’s me again! And yes, it’s me again, just now posting a session that is 4 months old. I wish I was able to stay more on top of things!!! So thank you for bearing with me. I’ve had my hands full this summer with a 3 and 1 year old, but man…I really thought I’d manage to get on top of it, but nope! After this I’ve got at least two newborn sessions to blog…maybe putting it out there will give me motivation to get it done…lol, I hope, at least.
Anyway, onto this sweet family, who were referred to me by a friend. They are AMAZING. I feel like I say this all the time because I seem to be blessed with fantastic clients but it truly makes a world of difference when you find a photographer that you mesh well with - it always shows in the photos. They are previously from California and they move often so we aimed for a kind of wide-open-spaces vibe with the setting, to commemorate their time here in Texas country! I also really like a mom who knows exactly she what she wants. Together, we collaborated on wardrobe ideas and colors to put together a beautiful spring session for them! Each of her kiddos were SO much fun to be with, and we had a great time. I’m soooo excited to see them again soon for my Limited Edition Christmas Sessions! Also, if you' love this location, please let me know when booking - this is a private location in Richmond that I have exclusive access to! ;)
Also, for those that don’t know, I DO offer print services! I’ll mention this here since they made a print order, and I get asked often what the differences are versus doing it yourself, and Kristina gave me a good example for how to best explain it. So like i said, I like a mom who knows what she likes (or DOESN’T like), and so Kristina knew she wanted to order standout prints (which offer the depth of canvas without the canvas material), and specified why she preferred them over canvas - she didn’t like the texture of the canvas, for one, nor the way the colors rendered on them. As the photographer, I was then able to optimize both the digital file and paper choice for her prints to offer her the best quality possible. With her feedback, I knew I needed to deepen the blacks and up the contrast a little bit, and when she mentioned the texture, I knew exactly which paper I would order the prints on (deep matte, for those wondering - it’s the smoothest paper). Can you order standout prints on your own from a consumer lab online? Yep. Will it look good? Of course! As long as you use a recommended lab, at least. The benefit to me doing it is that I take care of it for you, check it over myself to make sure there’s no problems, deliver it to you, and optimize the image for the type of printing we’re doing so that you get that absolute best print possible on your end, with no work on your part! After our session, just let me know what you’re interested in and I’m always happy to send a quote.
This was one of my favorite sessions from this past spring (yes I'm that far behind on my blog lol). My work tends to have a pretty cohesive look to it, regardless of session type, however I love the unique feel each family brings to their own session. Some families are easy to pose and get smiling, and some love the more natural, unposed look, which is why I try to offer a mixture of both in my sessions. Yet sometimes, when I have a family show up dressed SO BEAUTIFULLY, and SO impeccably, it inspires me in a whole new way. I love it. This family was one of those. When I saw their outfits, my heart almost leapt out of chest with excitement. It was May, and although pretty mild this year, it was still getting pretty hot outside, so I gotta give it to dad here for dressing to the nines in the heat - he was a huge trooper, as were all their sweet girls! I digress though. When I saw them, I was so excited, and when that sun began to get nice and golden, I was inspired to create some beautiful heirloom quality fine art portraits for this family.
I've found that the best way to describe a family photography session with me is kind of like controlled chaos. We get some smiles, we play some games, everyone runs around, kids are supposed to be silly, and hopefully we enjoy lots of laughter as well. It might look crazy - I'm sure many of you often walk away thinking "oh my gosh there's no way on EARTH she got anything usable what are we going to do?!?" however, that can't be farther from the truth. Family photography is FUN. I LIVE for the chaos. And, as long as I get ONE good picture of each kid in whatever setting we're in, that's usually about all it takes to make magic happen in post (IF I even wind up needing to do that). In fact, one of the images below is a composite of 4 different photos, and I guarantee you can't tell which one it is. Also, I'm going to let everyone in on a secret: head swaps are often done in my post processing, and I deem them an essential part of my touchup process, because I love delivering the best possible photo I can for my clients. It's especially vital when shooting twins or other small-age-gap siblings, because it's so rare that everyone is look all at the same time (and that's OK)!
Anyway, check out this beautiful family below! The youngest, sweet Maggie, was SO full of life! Such cuties.
Another session I'm SUPER late to blogging, but that's new there? Summer has been a busy, busy time around here trying to keep my own kiddos entertained each day, while also maintaining the lawn, and the house...life is never ending! Nonetheless, this Katy family photographer keeps on chugging on through it all, because I love being able to capture these precious, nuanced moments that you can't get back once gone. I lament often that I can't capture my own moments for myself and my own children. Well, I CAN, it's just much harder to do it myself. I'm so glad though, for every chance that I get to do it for others!
This family was so so SWEET. I enjoyed every moment with them, and hopefully sweet little Sadie is letting her parents get a little more sleep these days. Her little brother Liam was full of personality, and even though it was Sadie's moment in the spotlight, I was very glad I got some photos of momma reading with her oldest child, since I know firsthand the struggle that comes for little ones with learning to share mommy! Seriously though, there were so many fantastic shots from this session, it was incredibly hard to narrow down. Check out more of the wonderful family below.
