Christmas Sessions | Katy Family Photographer

I know Valentine’s Day just passed by us somehow, but I wasn’t ready to blog these until now! I don’t often offer limited edition sessions, but I LOVED doing these, and I’m already thinking about what I might try to offer next fall!! It was so much fun to style these sessions, and my amazing previous clients all sold out the entire first weekend’s worth of sessions! I’m truly blessed to be able to do this, honestly. I mean seriously, just look at all these precious families! Thank you so much to everyone who made it such a success!

Jain Family | Katy Houston, TX Family Photographer

I know I mentioned in my last post that this session also holds a special place in my heart, and now let me tell you why. Little Kian was my VERY FIRST NEWBORN SESSION EVER! His parents graciously took a "risk" letting me photograph that very special time for them knowing it was going to be my first time shooting a newborn, and I am FOREVER grateful to them for that, because it allowed me to find my passion for doing newborn sessions! I had a feeling that doing lifestyle newborn sessions would be something I would enjoy, and working with such a wonderful family at the outset really lit the fire in my heart for this.

They lived out in Clear Lake at the time, and I honestly thought I wouldn't ever get to see Kian again, which I often lamented when looking back through that session, because he was so adorable and they were so, so sweet! So imagine my surprise when I get an email in my inbox from Elyza, mentioning they'd moved closer to my side of town and wanted to see if I had availability for a fall session. Um, of course I do, especially for you, I said! And it was SO good to see them again! We had a very enjoyable session, and Kian has grown into such an active little guy! I loved the tender hugs he started handing out towards the end of the session, too - he even gave a couple to me, and my heart melted! Such a precious little angel. Thanks again for letting me capture these moments for you guys!

Minerva | Katy Houston TX Stylized Children's Photographer

I feel like everyone knows by now, but our life has been absolutely crazy the last few months, and thus, I have a HUGE backlog of sessions to blog! We started building a new house this past April, and that house was supposed to be completed by the end of September. The move was mostly in preparation for the future, as the current house was going to only keep becoming much too small for our growing needs. However, I NEVER in a million years would've imagined that we absolutely would've NEEDED that house at that exact time. Our old house, shockingly, flooded during #HurricaneHarvey. Like SO many in and around the city, we didn't have flood insurance. Our area of Katy wasn't supposed to flood. We didn't flood in the Tax Day flood of 2016! We were supposed to be good. And then we weren't. And our street's drainage just couldn't keep up with the torrential rainfall. And then the water started coming in. And then it was EVERYWHERE. Unless you experience it, there is just no adequate way to describe the feeling that overcomes you as you watch your house fill with water, and the dread of not knowing when, or even IF, it will stop. I mean, we had a four month old, and an almost 3 year old, and my mind continued to go to the worst of places, envisioning the rain never stopping, our house filling with water, swimming to our roof with my BABY.

Luckily, none of that happened. The water stopped at 3 inches, and as soon as the rain let up, it began receding and was completely gone by morning, but the damage was already done. Almost infuriatingly, we now had the same amount of work to do on our house as the people who had gotten FEET of water in theirs, because once it's in, that's IT. And so we lived without floors and walls for three weeks as they finished up our new house. And, by the grace of God, our builder was actually able to help us close a week EARLIER than previously expected.

We're in our new house now, and mostly settled. But now as busy season hits for photography, it will be a long while before the house gets fully unpacked. But that's ok. At least we finally have floors again. We have WALLS. WE HAVE A FRIDGE AGAIN. Small things I never even realized I was taking for granted daily until we did not have them anymore...

And THAT is why I am sitting here, only just now blogging this session from back in JUNE.

This is Minerva. She turned 3, and we did a beautiful, girly take on the Where The Wild Things Are aesthetic. Minerva's mom is a huge photo taker herself, and so she was no stranger to the camera! She was a true natural at posing. We have a special shoot planned in a few weeks as well for Dia De Los Muertos, which is still a bit hush-hush at the moment, but just know - I ALREADY CAN'T WAIT TO POST THOSE PICTURES (and I haven't even taken them yet)!!!

{Sabrina} 3 Month Milestone | Katy Houston, TX Child Milestone Portrait Photographer

Y'all, I can't even believe it...Our very own sweet little Sabrina turned 3 MONTHS OLD last week. I mean seriously, where does the time go?! I still feel like she was just BORN last week. Someone stop the clock, seriously. Before I know it she's going to be a year old! Olive is still struggling with sharing mommy, so we're still working through that, but otherwise, things have been going super well around here! Sabrina sleeps great at night most of the time, and usually takes a few decent naps throughout the day, so I can't complain. I've been super excited to dive back into shooting as well - it's nice to get out and do something for just me occasionally!

Additionally - spoiler alert - we're moving into a new house in a couple of months where I'm planning on having a STUDIO space!!! I'm really looking forward to offering this new session option to all of you, and so to get some practice in beforehand, I decided to do her pictures in literally the only room of our current house that gets any light at all. You would not even believe the incredibly tiny space within which I shot these! I had to move Cinnamon's big cat tower out of the way, and then put Sabrina right in that spot in front of the window. She did so well though, so I got lots of practice in before she eventually became fussy! Now, onto the pictures...

Easter {Couture} Styled Shoot | Katy Houston, TX Child and Lifestyle Portrait Photographer

I had the wonderful pleasure of putting together my very own styled shoot for my favorite set of twins in the world. Wait - isn't it too early for Easter pictures still, you might be wondering? Well, since baby Robson #2 is due right at Easter time next month, we decided to go ahead and knock these out early (way early, since my March was pretty much booked solid)! If I must say, I think it turned out beautifully. I've never seen a more adorable and precious set of little Easter bunnies! Sweet Finley wanted nothing to do with having pictures done, but we managed to get a few good ones eventually (special shoutout to Marshmallows and their magical powers)! And if you're seeing these and thinking man, I would love to get my little one in on some photos like these, don't fret! I'm planning on offering this setup for Easter 2018 as well. While I would have LOVED to advertise and offer it this year, there's only so much that I can squeeze in a month out from having a new baby! But next year...next year...be ready for these!

All girls are 2.5-ALMOST 3 years old, wearing two outfits from the client closet that fit up to 4-5 years of age, both of which are from Dollcake. That "Dollop of Vintage" romper might be favorite outfit ever - I'm completely obsessed...
