Baby {Sadie} | Katy Family Photographer

Another session I'm SUPER late to blogging, but that's new there? Summer has been a busy, busy time around here trying to keep my own kiddos entertained each day, while also maintaining the lawn, and the is never ending! Nonetheless, this Katy family photographer keeps on chugging on through it all, because I love being able to capture these precious, nuanced moments that you can't get back once gone. I lament often that I can't capture my own moments for myself and my own children. Well, I CAN, it's just much harder to do it myself. I'm so glad though, for every chance that I get to do it for others!

This family was so so SWEET. I enjoyed every moment with them, and hopefully sweet little Sadie is letting her parents get a little more sleep these days. Her little brother Liam was full of personality, and even though it was Sadie's moment in the spotlight, I was very glad I got some photos of momma reading with her oldest child, since I know firsthand the struggle that comes for little ones with learning to share mommy! Seriously though, there were so many fantastic shots from this session, it was incredibly hard to narrow down. Check out more of the wonderful family below.

I love using items unique to each of my families in their newborn sessions! It makes the photos so much more personal.

You guys, this session was so incredibly special to me. I never in a million years though ANY of my cousins would ever have children. Honestly, in our families, the burden of children mostly rests on my husband and I, which we're fine with. We both came from pretty small families ourselves, and growing up I always knew my kids would never have many, if any, cousins. It just is what it is. Yet somehow, the day FINALLY came and one of my cousins decided to take the leap!! And I'm so, so excited for the memories our kids will get to make together. Little Amber is just under a year apart from our Sabrina. I'm so glad my kids will have someone to play with at the holidays now, which speaking of, this is also so heartbreaking at the same time because my aunt (his mom) just passed away this Christmas. She never got to see the grandchild she was always begging for. It was a bittersweet Christmas this year for sure, but seeing this sweet baby brings only joy. I can't wait to watch her grow! Welcome to the wild side, Amber!

Life is ROUGH when you're sick, y'all. I was hoping to have blogged at least twice by now, but I ONLY started truly feeling better yesterday. I've been sick for 16 days. S I X T E E N  D A Y S. Unreal. And it seems like a lot of people I've talked to have also had a cold that they couldn't shake for two weeks, or know someone else in the same position. I have no idea what's been going around, but I hope all of you out there manage to avoid it!

I love having the opportunity to photograph friends, but while in some ways it's more relaxing, it's also more nerve wracking in others! I mean, what if they end up hating their photos?! Terrifying thought. I met this super sweet family at our church a couple of years ago, and when they needed family photos this year, they picked me! I was very grateful for the honor. I love how laid back Keryn and Hardi are, and how free spirited and playful their kids are because of that! They are such an entertaining family, and our session was full of endless laughs and fun! We tried a couple of new things at this session, and I think it really helped to capture their adventurous spirits.

This. Family. Was. SO. MUCH. FUN!!! Erin and Jeremy were super chill and laid back people, and ALL of their kids were absolutely adorable, with a wonderful sense of humor!

Little Hope was born a couple of weeks early and poor Erin experienced a few complications afterward. Ironically, I had JUST recently read a very long article on NPR about postpartum pre-eclampsia. The article profiled a neonatal nurse who, after giving birth herself, died of surprise complications due in part of medical negligence and/or ignorance on the part of her care team, because she had postpartum pre-eclampsia and no one had managed to put two and two together until after she died 48 hours later. It was one of those articles that you file the knowledge away in your mind, hoping to not ever need it one day, but is good to know just in case. Thus, imagine my surprise when Erin called me needing to reschedule her session because she was having some of the same complications! Thank GOD she had a good care team who took her postpartum rising blood pressure seriously, and made sure to monitor her closely. Having only recently even learned that such an illness was possible, I was more than accommodating to her - health comes first, for sure! Luckily Erin healed up quickly, and we ended up having an amazing session!

This was another lifestyle newborn session where it was just truly impossible to choose favorites. I also find that the ones I like best and would choose to deliver don't always align with what my families would pick, so I find myself more and more delivering large proofing galleries to let my families choose their images themselves. Sometimes I feel bad asking exhausted new parents to try to pick favorites themselves, but I do like that they end up with the images THEY want rather than the ones I would've picked! And it's always fun to see if it's ones I would've picked or not. For instance, this family chose an image that I ALMOST scrapped completely, but I did see the potential in it given our interactions and conversations during the session. Something was nagging at me to at least put the image in their gallery, and I'm SO glad I did because it was one they loved!

I LOVED this blanket that the mom wanted to incorporate! That's what I enjoy about lifestyle newborn sessions the most - incorporating items that are important to YOU!

This is another one of those sessions I'm blogging super late, in the thick of busy season! There's a meme out there that says "October is to Photographers what April is to Accountants," and I love it because it's TRUE! So I apologize to all my little newborn mommies out there who are seeing their beautiful sessions blogged later than expected!

I LOVED working with this sweet family for their lifestyle newborn session, and because OBP over here seems to be "what a small world" central, I found out this family lives in the neighborhood we were about to move into ourselves! So that was extra fun. Baby Caleb was born many weeks early due to a few complications, but that just means this sweet boy slept extra well for his photos! And, again, check out this nursery! I ADORE the woodland theme, and that wood flooring wall is to die for! These stylish mommas always just blow me out of the water with their design skills! But seriously, I'm very blessed to work with each and every family that chooses me for their lifestyle newborn sessions here in Katy - thank you from the bottom of my heart to all of you! I LOVE what I do!
