{Sabrina} 3 Month Milestone | Katy Houston, TX Child Milestone Portrait Photographer

Y'all, I can't even believe it...Our very own sweet little Sabrina turned 3 MONTHS OLD last week. I mean seriously, where does the time go?! I still feel like she was just BORN last week. Someone stop the clock, seriously. Before I know it she's going to be a year old! Olive is still struggling with sharing mommy, so we're still working through that, but otherwise, things have been going super well around here! Sabrina sleeps great at night most of the time, and usually takes a few decent naps throughout the day, so I can't complain. I've been super excited to dive back into shooting as well - it's nice to get out and do something for just me occasionally!

Additionally - spoiler alert - we're moving into a new house in a couple of months where I'm planning on having a STUDIO space!!! I'm really looking forward to offering this new session option to all of you, and so to get some practice in beforehand, I decided to do her pictures in literally the only room of our current house that gets any light at all. You would not even believe the incredibly tiny space within which I shot these! I had to move Cinnamon's big cat tower out of the way, and then put Sabrina right in that spot in front of the window. She did so well though, so I got lots of practice in before she eventually became fussy! Now, onto the pictures...

Summertime {Sweetness} | Katy, TX Lifestyle Family Photographer

It's summer! And with summer comes everything beautiful in this world - bright, warm sunshine, popsicles, pools, ice cream, bubbles, butterflies, zoo days, splashpads, to name a few. We've been lucky enough to not have any 90 degree days just yet, but that doesn't mean it's not plenty hot and humid outside. Although often sweltering, especially in Houston, there is something magical about summer in Texas. The best memories I have in life are all from various summers spent in Texas. The people, the places, the music, the warmth - every year it all comes flooding back when those high heat days come. I love every second of it. Some people can't stand to be outside in it, but I live for it.

I recently joined a new group full of inspiration for capturing the every day moments in life. With the steaminess we experienced playing outside the other afternoon, I pulled out the kiddie pool and all of our other fun summer toys. After watching Olive play for a bit and having some of the neighborhood kids join in our fun, I was inspired to go grab my camera to capture these very simple yet special moments.

I will admit, I don't always love fully-editing family pictures. I don't know why, but when I'm doing it just for myself, sometimes it can feel tedious. But in looking at these...they were just so beautiful to me, the way she just played paying no attention to anything else around her, just exploring. I enjoyed editing them, and it really served as a reminder to not let my own family's memories get lost along the way; it's worth it, all the effort, to create this art. I truly hope she'll look back on these one day and cherish them.

Cheers to a wonderful summer ahead! I hope you're all out there having fun with your babies. I leave you now with these bonus images (taken weeks ago but, as I said earlier, having edited two sessions back to back, I was in an editing rut when it came to my own little one) :

Katy, TX Lifestyle Family Photographer | Todd 1-Year Shoot {Sneak Peak}

On Sunday, while most moms were probably taking a break from work, I got to truly celebrate the gift of motherhood (in addition to snuggling my own little one, of course) by shooting this little guy's 1-year pictures! He did superb for his shoot, serving up smiles and sweetness that would melt any mother's heart. He is such an easy-going and enjoyable little boy, and I was so overjoyed to capture this special day for him. While it didn't rain (luckily!), I was a bit disappointed at just how overcast the sky was that day. But that's just part of the outdoor photography struggle - gotta work with what nature gives you! And she doesn't always cooperate. However, by happy accident! We stumbled upon a sundial! And while posing him next to the "1," noticed that May (aka, his birth month), lined up PERFECTLY on the ground with the shot! How cool was that? I love exciting moments like these. Hopefully you find him as precious as I do!

And a bonus picture - my favorite - AKA: "How You Know A Shoot is OVER!"

Katy, TX Lifestyle Family Photographer | {Bailey + Finley}

Ok, I just have to start off by saying this is the most magical and whimsical shoot I've ever done. My style is evolving with every shoot I do, and I eventually hope to create some truly magical art in the future as I grow, and I'm proud of the start presented here. I love shooting these girls. This was my second time with them, and for being just shy of two years old, they did spectacularly! They are such an inquisitive pair, and these photos really captured that. Bailey is SO outgoing, and I love how you can see the relationship they have together, her leading the way most of the time with "sissy" following cautiously behind. I can't wait to see how they continue to grow!

Katy, TX Lifestyle Family Photographer | {March Showers}

"April showers bring May flowers," as the old saying goes. However, with all the recent rain here in Texas, these march showers are giving way to some gorgeous greenery of their own! Warmer weather and big puddles mean a good time for little toddlers, so I could 't resist getting out there with my daughter during the latest bout of rain! And, since I'm currently mulling over what kind of mini sessions I may want to offer up this spring, I figured what better time to see what kinds of rainy day photos I could get! So...be on the lookout for what's to come! And check out our session below.

AND what would a shoot with a toddler be without this beautiful image?

This is why I love lifestyle photography! ;)
